The game settings
Whoever creates the game decides how it is played. The settings are chosen when the game is created and never change: those who join find them already written and can read them at any time from the game sheet.
How long a phase lasts
Day and night each have their own length, chosen with a number and a unit. The minimum is 5 minutes, the maximum 7 days: you can play a quick game all together on the same sofa, or a very long one where everybody takes their turn whenever they have a spare moment. When the time is up the phase closes by itself, even if somebody has not acted yet. Whoever runs the game can pause the timer or close the phase early.
The people at the table
At least 3 players are needed to start. The host also chooses which roles come to the table and how many copies of each: they can follow the classic mix or draw one at random. In a random draw the werewolves always stay in the minority and there are never aliens.
